Senior / Principal Structural Engineer Looking for the opportunity to lead technically challenging projects while shaping the future of critical infrastructure?

If you're a Structural Engineer who enjoys solving complex engineering problems and wants to work on projects that genuinely make a difference, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for. Whether you're operating at Senior or Principal level, you'll have the chance to take ownership of major multidisciplinary projects, influence technical delivery and play a key role in developing the next generation of engineers.

The Opportunity

You'll join a growing and highly respected engineering consultancy delivering a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects across transportation, local authority, utilities and public sector frameworks.

This is more than a design role. You'll be trusted to lead technical delivery, build client relationships and help shape project outcomes from concept through to completion. You'll work alongside multidisciplinary teams, collaborating with experts across a wide range of engineering disciplines whilst contributing to the continued growth and success of the business.

For Principal Engineers, there is a clear opportunity to influence strategy, mentor teams and support business development activities, whilst Senior Engineers will have the platform to develop towards technical leadership and Chartership progression if not already achieved.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Leading the design and delivery of structural engineering projects across a varied infrastructure portfolio.
  • Producing and reviewing structural calculations, technical reports, specifications and design documentation.
  • Delivering projects through feasibility, outline design and detailed design stages.
  • Managing project resources, budgets and programme deliverables.
  • Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop integrated engineering solutions.
  • Undertaking technical reviews and providing quality assurance across project outputs.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and delivery partners.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior engineers and technicians.
  • Contributing to bids, proposals and framework opportunities.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards, legislation and engineering best practice.
Why Consider This Opportunity?

Many engineering roles promise interesting work but often leave you focused on a narrow range of projects. Here, you'll be exposed to a broad and technically challenging workload that will continue to develop your engineering capability and leadership experience.

You'll benefit from:

  • A varied and secure pipeline of long-term infrastructure projects.
  • Genuine opportunities for progression into technical and leadership positions.
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
  • Investment in professional development and Chartership support.
  • The opportunity to influence project outcomes rather than simply deliver designs.
  • A collaborative environment where your ideas and expertise are valued.
  • Exposure to multidisciplinary projects that broaden your experience and technical knowledge.
About You

You'll likely be a Senior Structural Engineer looking to step into a Principal role, or an established Principal Engineer seeking a fresh challenge within a supportive and forward-thinking consultancy.

We're particularly interested in engineers who can demonstrate:

  • Experience delivering structural engineering projects within a consultancy environment.
  • Strong knowledge of structural design standards and engineering best practice.
  • Experience working across multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Chartered status or a clear pathway towards Chartership.
  • A passion for mentoring others and contributing to a positive engineering culture.
