We're supporting a leading UK public sector organisation in the search for an experienced Senior Procurement Specialist to join their Commercial Services team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished public procurement professional to lead complex, high-value procurement activity whilst partnering with senior stakeholders across the organisation.

Description

Reporting to the Associate Director of Commercial, you'll take ownership of end-to-end procurement projects, leading complex above-threshold public sector procurements from strategy development through to contract award and mobilisation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading complex public procurement exercises in compliance with current UK procurement legislation.
  • Developing commercially robust sourcing and procurement strategies.
  • Advising senior stakeholders on procurement options, commercial risks and value-for-money considerations.
  • Designing tender documentation, evaluation methodologies and supplier selection processes.
  • Driving best practice in commercial governance, procurement compliance and supplier engagement.
  • Supporting the organisation's ongoing implementation of UK procurement reform.
  • Identifying opportunities for efficiencies, commercial improvement and optimisation across the procurement portfolio.

Profile

The successful candidate will have proven experience in public sector procurement operating at a senior level, taking ownership of the full procurement lifecycle and will be commercial minded.

Experience required:

  • Extensive experience leading complex public sector procurement exercises.
  • Strong knowledge of UK public procurement legislation and procurement governance.
  • Proven experience managing high-value and strategically important sourcing projects.
  • Significant experience procuring professional services.
  • The ability to engage, challenge and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance compliance with practical commercial outcomes.

Job Offer

  • Salary of £55,000 to £65,000, dependent on the level of experience.
  • 15% bonus
  • Flexible working arrangements, with 40% of time spent onsite in Sheffield Centre
  • 38 days of holiday leave.
  • Opportunity to work abroad for 25 days annually.
