Senior Production Technician

I am recruiting on behalf of my client for an experienced Senior Production Technician to join their Operations team. My client operates within a technical manufacturing environment, producing complex electrical, electronic and electro-mechanical systems where quality, accuracy and attention to detail are essential. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on technician with strong assembly, integration and testing experience to take on a technically responsible position within production.

As a Senior Production Technician, you will be involved in the assembly, integration, configuration, inspection and testing of complex systems, including rack systems, IPCs, servers and similar electro-mechanical assemblies.
The Senior Production Technician will be expected to work accurately from detailed technical documentation while maintaining high standards of workmanship and quality throughout the production process.

Key experience and capabilities required include:
  • Proven electrical/electronic assembly experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Hands-on experience building rack systems, IPCs, servers or similar complex electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Strong cable assembly, crimping and soldering capability to recognised standards
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions, wiring schedules, schematics and technical drawings
  • Experience with software installation, configuration and functional testing
  • Experience conducting in-process and final inspections
  • Experience working within an ISO 9001 quality management system
  • Understanding of ESD controls and appropriate handling requirements
  • Ability to identify build issues and resolve routine technical problems
  • A logical approach to troubleshooting and fault finding
  • Confidence in raising and escalating non-conformances
  • Ability to act as a technical point of reference for other technicians
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
For the Senior Production Technician position, experience with complex rack integration or bespoke system builds would be advantageous, alongside familiarity with networking, server hardware or industrial computing systems.
Additional desirable experience includes:
  • Producing cable and wire harness assemblies to IPC-A-620
  • Supporting diagnostics and fault finding at system level
  • A relevant engineering or technical qualification at Level 2 or above
  • IPC-A-620 certification or equivalent industry-standard training
The successful Senior Production Technician will have a good general level of education at GCSE level or equivalent, including Maths and English, together with the numeracy and literacy skills required to work confidently with technical documentation and instructions.
