Senior Project Engineer

Dornan Engineering Group is a leading international engineering contractor delivering high-value projects across Europe, the UK & Ireland. Based in Kinsale, Co. Cork, this is an exciting opportunity to join our growing Life Sciences team as a Senior Project Engineer, supporting the delivery of a major pharmaceutical project. This is a dynamic, site-based role where you will lead the coordination of mechanical building services installations, with a particular focus on piping systems, while ensuring safe, high-quality, and on-time project delivery.

Your day will include:
  • Supporting the Project Manager with the successful delivery of mechanical building services works.
  • Coordinating the installation of mechanical and piping systems on a large-scale pharmaceutical project.
  • Managing mechanical subcontractors to ensure works are delivered safely, on programme, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications, technical submittals, and RFIs.
  • Collaborating with design, BIM, commissioning, and client teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Monitoring project progress and identifying opportunities to improve programme performance.
  • Supporting quality inspections, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Ensuring compliance with all health, safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
  • Maintaining accurate project documentation and providing regular progress updates.
About You
  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in a Senior Project Engineer or Project Engineer role delivering mechanical building services projects.
  • Demonstrable experience managing piping installations, ideally within pharmaceutical, life sciences, or other highly regulated environments.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical building services systems, including HVAC, utility piping, process piping, and associated plant.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and BIM models.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance, commissioning, and mechanical installation best practices.
  • Excellent communication, planning, and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach with a strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
