An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Project Engineer to take a leading engineering role on a major £160m MEP package as part of HS2.
With the main civil engineering works substantially complete, the project is moving into the next phase of delivery across five ventilation and evacuation shafts. The MEP works are currently progressing through design, with installation due to begin in November and continue through to 2028, followed by testing, commissioning and technical assurance into 2029.
This is an excellent opportunity to join the programme at a key stage, taking responsibility for engineering management, design coordination and technical assurance as the project progresses from design into installation and commissioning.
As Senior Project Engineer, you will provide engineering leadership across the MEP package, coordinating complex designs and managing interfaces between the MEP works and wider rail systems.
You will work closely with designers, contractors, rail systems teams and technical specialists to ensure designs are coordinated, assured and successfully delivered on site.
Essential Requirements:
- Significant experience as a Senior Project Engineer, Engineering Manager, Design Manager or similar engineering leadership role.
- Strong MEP experience across mechanical, electrical, public health or associated systems.
- Previous experience working within a rail environment.
- Experience coordinating complex designs and managing multidisciplinary engineering interfaces.
- Strong technical assurance and engineering management experience.
- Experience taking designs through review, acceptance and approval processes.
- An understanding of construction assurance, testing and commissioning.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to challenge contractors, designers and technical specialists.
- Experience acting as an NEC Supervisor or a good understanding of NEC Supervisor responsibilities.
Nice to have:
- Experience working under NEC contracts.
- Previous HS2, Crossrail or other major rail infrastructure experience.
- Experience delivering MEP packages within stations or other complex rail environments.
- Design management or engineering management experience across both design and construction.
- Experience managing technical interfaces between MEP and operational rail systems.
The scale and complexity of the MEP installation offers the opportunity to take responsibility for a substantial engineering package while working alongside specialist engineering teams and subject matter experts across HS2.
