THE PROGRAMME

THE OPPORTUNITY

Our client is seeking a highly experienced aviation project leader to manage major terminal, building, airfield and associated infrastructure projects in a live international airport. This is a senior client-side role requiring strong delivery leadership, commercial judgement and the ability to coordinate airport operations, designers, contractors and senior stakeholders without compromising safety or passenger operations.

The programme covers new piers and aircraft stands, major airfield upgrades, terminal redesign, surface access and transport improvements, and upgraded drainage and utilities. You will work in a live, safety-critical environment where robust governance, stakeholder management and disciplined delivery are essential.

WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

- Lead complex aviation projects across terminals, buildings, airfield and associated civil infrastructure.

- Coordinate all project interfaces and dependencies across design, construction, airport operations, security and stakeholder workstreams.

- Lead design management, review and acceptance processes and communicate changes and impacts clearly.

- Develop and maintain delivery strategies, Project Execution Plans, resource plans, risk registers and performance reports.

- Manage project scope, schedule, cost, quality, safety, risk and change through the full lifecycle.

- Chair senior project, design and governance meetings and drive timely resolution of issues and decisions.

- Manage NEC and/or FIDIC contractual obligations, including programmes, early warnings, compensation events, payments and formal communications.

- Provide leadership and mentoring to Project Managers and multidisciplinary delivery teams.

- Maintain strong relationships with airport management, operations, airlines, regulators, contractors and consultants.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

- At least 15 years of experience delivering major building, terminal, airfield or civil infrastructure projects.

- Substantial experience within aviation or another safety-critical, continuously operational environment.

- Strong client-side project leadership and a proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and senior stakeholders.

- Detailed working knowledge of NEC and/or FIDIC contracts and major-project governance.

- Commercial awareness and experience managing cost, schedule, risk, interfaces and change on high-value projects.

- A degree in project management, engineering, construction or a related discipline.

- Professional accreditation such as RICS, SCSI, APM, CIOB or Chartered Engineer status is strongly preferred.
