Senior Project Manager Construction Consultancy

Brandon James

Remote-friendly

A leading project management and infrastructure consultancy is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join its Nottingham team. The Senior Project Manager will lead major public-sector infrastructure and built-environment commissions, with a particular focus on pre-contract strategy, governance and stakeholder management.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Project Manager with strong experience working alongside public authorities. The successful Senior Project Manager will help shape programmes before construction begins, while the Senior Project Manager will coordinate multidisciplinary teams and establish clear governance structures. The Senior Project Manager will play a central role in setting projects up for successful delivery.

You must have prior construction consultancy experience to be considered for this role.

The Senior Project Manager's role

The Senior Project Manager will lead complex infrastructure and regeneration projects through the pre-contract stages. Responsibilities will include programme set-up, governance planning, stakeholder engagement, consultant coordination, risk management and procurement strategy.

The Senior Project Manager will work closely with local authorities, public bodies, technical advisers and delivery partners. They will establish robust reporting processes, decision-making structures and programme controls, using a structured approach comparable to PRINCE2.

This is a governance-heavy position rather than a purely site-based delivery role. The successful candidate must be confident managing multidisciplinary teams and navigating complex stakeholder environments before works commence.

The Senior Project Manager

The successful Senior Project Manager will have:

  • Strong pre-contract project or programme management experience
  • Experience working on public-sector infrastructure, regeneration or built-environment programmes
  • A degree in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
  • Chartered status with APM, RICS, CIOB, ICE or progress towards a relevant qualification
  • Strong stakeholder management experience involving public authorities
  • Experience establishing governance, reporting and programme controls
  • The ability to lead multidisciplinary consultant teams
  • PRINCE2, MSP or similar structured programme management experience
  • An engineering or regeneration background would be advantageous

Candidates whose experience is almost entirely within education, healthcare, defence, nuclear or airport projects are unlikely to be suitable.

  • Car allowance
  • Performance-related bonus

  • Private healthcare
