Senior Project Manager – MEP
Lead complex M&E projects from planning through to handover
We're looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to take ownership of the safe, compliant and efficient delivery of complex Mechanical & Electrical projects across a multi-site portfolio.
Working closely with the Operations Director, you'll lead project planning, delivery, resource coordination and client relationships — bringing strong technical understanding of M&E building services together with genuine leadership of project teams and commercial performance.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead the preparation, planning, delivery and completion of M&E construction projects, ensuring all contractual obligations are met or exceeded
- Manage and develop supervisory, engineering and site teams, leading project steering groups and cross-discipline meetings
- Monitor and manage project budgets, ensuring accurate forecasting and cost control
- Maintain a strong focus on health, safety and environmental performance, including setting KPIs, reviewing incidents and leading safety tours
- Support commercial governance — preparing cost plans, managing cost vs. value, and leading weekly cost reviews
- Manage procurement of subcontractors, advising on commercial, operational and risk considerations
- Set project KPIs, monitor performance and drive continuous improvement
- Provide technical input to support work-winning activities
What We're Looking For
- A proven leader, confident managing teams and developing talent
- Strong commercial awareness, with real experience in cost control, forecasting and contract management
- Excellent communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills
- A natural collaborator, comfortable working closely with clients, supply chain and internal teams
- Someone who takes genuine ownership of safety, quality and delivery — not just box-ticking
- Organised, with the ability to produce and manage project programmes and documentation to a high standard
Qualifications
Essential
- experience in Project Management within M&E or a regulated construction environment
- Strong understanding of M&E building services and multi-discipline project delivery
- Experience managing construction operations, including phasing, commissioning and handover
- Proven leadership experience, including managing teams and developing talent
- Strong commercial awareness, with experience in cost control, forecasting and contract management
- CSCS card and SMSTS qualification
- Experience working collaboratively with clients, supply chain and internal teams
Desirable
- Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline
- Project Management qualification (APM, Prince2, or similar)
- Experience in healthcare, data centres or other complex M&E environments
- Knowledge of NEC, JCT or similar contract suites
- Experience supporting work-winning or tendering activities
- Experience mentoring, coaching or developing project teams
