Senior Project Manager
Due to sustained growth, a significant forward order workload and a continued commitment to be at the forefront of the industry, our client is now searching for a talented and motivated Senior Project Manager. The basic salary is £65,000 - £70,000 plus bonus and car allowance of £5000 plus full benefits package.
Essential experience is the delivery of engineering-based design, manufacture and install projects within sectors of aerospace, automotive, industrial, energy, nuclear and petrochemical.
The successful candidate will have the day-to-day responsibility for the safe, timely and profitable delivery of a wide variety of projects and schemes, all running simultaneously at differing stages of completion.
The Role
- Working in support of the Head of Projects to manage, execute and deliver multiple schemes simultaneously to the business needs and deputise when needed
- Look after all aspects of project delivery using the approved Business Lifecycle Processes from initial set up to close out and lessons learnt
- Manage elements not carried out directly by the Project function
- Coordinate with other departments (Engineering, Production, etc) to ensure delivery requirements are achieved
- To ensure projects and department activity align with the strategic aims of the business
- To act as mentor and provide support to the Project Managers in the team
- Managing Critical Impact Projects throughout the Project Lifecycle to agreed Quality, Cost and Delivery Targets
- Management and Reporting of Project Status and Milestone activities to the Head of Projects and to the wider business
- Working with Business Development to support activities on tenders and quotes
- Commercial understanding and execution of projects to the best advantage of the business, including robust contract variation control
- Identification, management and reporting of Risk Mitigation Measures and Issue Controls to ensure optimal project delivery
- Generation of accurate project plans, that ensure alignment with project scope, customer deliverables and business capacity and clear Identification of all project deliverables for both internal and external stakeholders, including scheduling progress meetings throughout the life of the project
- Working with the business to ensure that correct resources and suppliers are "on board" to ensure "Right first time" delivery, within the necessary budgets and quality requirements
- Financial control - understanding and setting up project budgets, feeding into the ERP system, invoice control, cash flow reporting and setting and achieving stated project margins
- Ensuring Project milestones / invoices are submitted timely and with the appropriate documentation
- Delegating as necessary, with the support of management team, within the business to achieve the project objectives
- Taking responsibility for all aspects of project performance and compliance, including adherence to project budget, delivery and quality requirements, whilst ensuring the final deliverable is complete to customer specification, and accompanied with the appropriate project and compliance documentation
- Maintaining an approved File structure in support of Project Lifecycle Management
- Ensuring detailed communications are placed and maintained to support the project, including action trackers, minutes of meetings and documentation control as necessary
- Carrying out lessons learnt activities to ensure continuous improvement of project processes and business deliverables
The Person
- Possessing experience in a similar role from any area of the aforementioned sectors, with a minimum HNC qualification in a relevant field
- Demonstrable experience of working to cost, timescale and quality constraints
- Possesses a project management and relevant engineering discipline background
- Very good communication and organisation skills, ability to confidently present and negotiate with customers and internal stakeholders
- Strong knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc)
- Technically and numerically competent, with an analytical approach
- Possesses first-hand exposure to the delivery of contracts, with a lead from the front approach
- Holds experience of a variety of projects, including multi disciplined engineering techniques
- Able to identify the requirements of projects to efficiently and effectively produce the most appropriate delivery plan or program
- A full UK driving licence and the right to live and work in the UK unassisted indefinitely
