Senior Planner – Energy / Major Infrastructure

Are you an experienced Senior Planner looking for a long-term opportunity on major UK energy infrastructure projects, with genuine flexibility around working from home?
I'm currently supporting a leading UK infrastructure contractor with the appointment of a Senior Planner into its growing Energy business.
The position will initially support a major electricity transmission project in Cheshire, currently progressing through the design and programme development stages, with the successful Planner becoming an integral part of the project team as it moves towards construction.
This is a permanent position offering excellent long-term security, a strong overall package and significant flexibility around hybrid working.
The Role
As Senior Planner, you'll take ownership of the development, management and communication of detailed project programmes, working closely with Project, Design, Engineering and Commercial teams.
Responsibilities will include:
- Developing and maintaining detailed project programmes
- Building programmes through design and into construction
- Primavera P6 programme development and management
- Critical path and programme analysis
- Earned Value Management
- Impact assessments and change management
- NEC4 programme management
- Detailed design programme integration
- Progress monitoring, forecasting and reporting
- Identifying programme risks and developing mitigation/recovery strategies
- Communicating programme position clearly to project stakeholders
- Supporting project teams with programme-related decision making
What We're Looking For
We're interested in speaking with established Senior Planners / Senior Project Planners / Senior Planning Engineers with experience delivering complex infrastructure projects.
You should ideally have:
- Strong Primavera P6 experience
- Good working knowledge of NEC4
- Experience developing detailed programmes from the ground up
- Earned Value Management experience
- Experience completing programme impact assessments
- Strong reporting and stakeholder communication skills
- Experience working through detailed design and construction phases
- A background within major infrastructure
Previous Energy, power transmission or HV substation strong planning fundamentals and NEC experience would be highly advantageous.
Candidates from rail, water, utilities, civils and other major infrastructure environments will also be considered where they can demonstrate strong planning fundamentals and NEC experience.
Location & Hybrid Working
The role is contractually based from Cheshire, but offers significant flexibility around working from home.
Initially, there will typically be a requirement to attend the Cheshire office around 2 days per week, with the working arrangement evolving as the project moves from design into construction.
Salary & Package
£60,000 – £75,000, dependent on experience, plus:
