Senior Quantity Surveyor

Brandon James

Remote-friendly

A specialist London construction consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their established cost management team. The consultancy has built a strong reputation for delivering complex and high-profile projects across the heritage, museum, cultural and commercial sectors, including schemes where historic buildings, sensitive environments and demanding client requirements require a considered approach to cost management.

The successful Senior Quantity Surveyor will take responsibility for projects from early feasibility and cost planning through procurement, construction and final account. Working closely with clients, architects and wider consultant teams, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will provide clear commercial advice while helping to protect budgets and maintain quality throughout each project.

This position would suit a confident Senior Quantity Surveyor with UK consultancy experience who enjoys technically interesting projects rather than high-volume delivery. Their portfolio offers the opportunity to work on distinctive buildings and spaces across London, including refurbishment, restoration, fit-out and new-build schemes within culturally significant and commercial environments.

Senior Quantity Surveyor - Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading cost planning, estimating and feasibility work during pre-contract stages

  • Preparing tender documentation and advising clients on procurement strategies

  • Managing valuations, variations, change control and final accounts

  • Providing commercial and contractual advice throughout project delivery

  • Chairing cost meetings and reporting directly to clients and project stakeholders

  • Managing projects independently while supporting junior Quantity Surveyors where required

Senior Quantity Surveyor - Candidate Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or another relevant construction discipline

  • Strong experience working for a UK cost consultancy or construction consultancy

  • Ideally MRICS qualified, or possessing substantial relevant experience and working towards chartership

  • Good working knowledge of JCT contracts and UK procurement routes

  • Experience across heritage, refurbishment, cultural, museum or commercial projects would be advantageous

  • Strong client-facing, reporting and cost management abilities

  • Comfortable managing multiple projects and taking responsibility for client relationships

In Return:

  • £70,000 - £77,500 per annum

  • Opportunity to work on unusual and prestigious London projects

  • Exposure to heritage, museum, cultural and commercial developments

  • Professional and collaborative consultancy environment

  • Long-term progression within an established specialist practice
