Senior Quantity Surveyor in Redcar, Redcar and Cleveland

We're looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a specialist self-delivery contractor delivering a major reinforced concrete package.

The contract operates under NEC4 Option E (Cost Reimbursable) – and this is an administration-heavy commercial role. 

The value is in ensuring the volume of work being delivered is captured, evidenced, substantiated and recovered.

The Role

You'll take ownership of day-to-day commercial activity and applications, including:

• Preparing and managing applications for payment

• Capturing and substantiating Defined Cost

• Maintaining detailed labour, plant, material and subcontract records

• Reconciling actual costs against applications and forecasts

• Ensuring supporting evidence is complete and audit-ready

• Identifying and mitigating Disallowed Cost exposure

• Managing Early Warnings and Compensation Events

• Capturing and substantiating change as it happens

• Maintaining strong contemporary records

• Responding to client queries and assessments

• Commercial management of subcontractors and suppliers

• Cost forecasting and commercial reporting

• Working closely with site teams to ensure commercially important information isn't missed

Who We're Looking For

• Strong NEC3/NEC4 experience

• Ideally Option E / cost reimbursable experience

• Major civil engineering, FRC or infrastructure background

• Strong understanding of Defined Cost and cost substantiation

• Exceptionally organised and administratively strong

• Comfortable managing significant volumes of commercial information

• Meticulous attention to detail and record keeping

If you dislike detailed administration, reconciliation and evidence gathering, this role probably isn't for you.

However, if you're the type of QS who wants the commercial records watertight and understands that under Option E, good cost capture directly impacts recovery, this is a significant role on one of the UK's major infrastructure projects.

This is an off-payroll engagement and hybrid working is available (3/4 days on-site, 2/1 off-site)
