Commercial Leadership on Civil Engineering & Infrastructure Projects
Are you an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to take the next step in your career with a leading civil engineering contractor?
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing organisation delivering a diverse portfolio of highways and civil engineering projects across Scotland. Working alongside an experienced commercial leadership team, you will play a key role in the successful commercial delivery of infrastructure schemes while supporting the development of junior members of the commercial team.


This position offers the opportunity to work across multiple projects, taking ownership of commercial performance from procurement through to final account, while contributing to the continued success of a well-established business.


The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of a portfolio of highways and civil engineering projects, ensuring strong financial performance and effective contract administration throughout the project lifecycle.
Working closely with the Commercial Manager, Project Managers and operational teams, you will provide commercial support across procurement, subcontract management, forecasting, valuations and change management, while also mentoring junior Quantity Surveyors and contributing to the continued development of the commercial function.


What You'll Be Doing
·Managing the commercial delivery of multiple civil engineering and highways projects.
·Administering NEC contracts, including change management and compensation events.
·Preparing valuations, applications for payment, cost reports and financial forecasts.
·Procuring and managing subcontractors, including negotiations and final accounts.
·Monitoring project costs, commercial risks and opportunities to maximise project performance.
·Working closely with operational teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme and within budget.
·Building strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
·Supporting and mentoring junior Quantity Surveyors, helping to develop the commercial team.

About You
To be considered, you'll ideally have:
·Previous experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, highways or infrastructure.
·Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and commercial management principles.
·Experience managing subcontract procurement, valuations, forecasting, cost reporting and final accounts.
·Excellent commercial awareness and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
·Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
·The ability to build effective relationships with clients, project teams and supply chain partners.
·Highways, infrastructure or wider civil engineering experience is highly desirable.
