Role Overview 
 
A well-established specialist construction contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its growing commercial team.
Operating across the UK, the business delivers a diverse portfolio of projects within the education, leisure, commercial and public sectors. With a strong pipeline of secured work and a reputation for delivering complex, high-quality schemes, the company continues to experience sustained growth and is looking to strengthen its commercial function.
 
This position offers the opportunity to become a key member of a collaborative and forward-thinking business where commercial teams are involved from the earliest stages of project development through to successful completion. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving commercial performance across multiple projects while working closely with senior leadership, operational teams and clients nationwide.
 
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will take responsibility for the commercial and contractual management of multiple projects from pre-construction through to final account. Working closely with operational teams and senior management, you will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered profitably, efficiently and in line with contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities
•        Lead the commercial management of multiple construction projects across the UK.
•        Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, cashflow reports and cost plans.
•        Produce accurate monthly cost/value reconciliations and commercial reports for senior management.
•        Manage subcontractor procurement, negotiation and account administration.
•        Prepare, submit and agree interim applications for payment, variations and final accounts.
•        Identify, assess and manage commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
•        Administer contracts and ensure compliance with contractual requirements and company procedures.
•        Review and manage change control procedures, compensation events and contractual notices.
•        Support pre-construction and tender activities through commercial input, pricing reviews and risk assessments.
•        Work collaboratively with operational teams to maximise project performance, efficiency and profitability.
•        Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and key stakeholders.
•        Assist in the development and implementation of commercial best practice across the business.
•        Provide guidance and mentoring to junior commercial team members where required.
•        Support the Commercial Director in achieving business objectives and commercial targets.
 
Essential Criteria 
•        Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or experienced Quantity Surveyor within the UK construction sector.
•        Strong commercial and contractual knowledge with experience managing projects from tender stage through to final account.
•        Experience working on education, leisure, commercial, public sector or similar construction projects.
•        Sound understanding of NEC and JCT forms of contract.
•        Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
•        Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
•        Excellent analytical, financial and reporting capabilities.
•        Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously within a fast-paced environment.
•        Commercially astute with a proactive approach to problem-solving and risk management.
•        Full UK Driving Licence.
•        Membership of RICS, CIOB or another recognised professional body. Not essential
•        Understanding of framework projects and public sector contracts.
