Senior Quantity Surveyor

Involve Recruitment

We are working on behalf of a leading national infrastructure contractor with an excellent reputation for delivering major civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the UK.

Due to continued success and a strong portfolio of secured work, our client is looking to strengthen its commercial team with the appointment of a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its Bristol office. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established business delivering long-term highway and environmental projects through secured framework agreements, offering excellent career progression within a supportive and progressive commercial environment.

Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, you will play a key role in the commercial management of multiple civil engineering schemes concurrently, taking responsibility for the commercial and contractual delivery of projects typically valued between £3 million and £10 million. Working under NEC forms of contract, you will manage projects from procurement through to final account while providing commercial support to operational teams and mentoring junior members of the commercial function.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Taking commercial responsibility for multiple highway and environmental projects throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Administering NEC contracts, including compensation events, early warnings and contractual notices.
  • Preparing cost reports, forecasts, applications for payment, valuations and monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
  • Procuring and managing subcontract packages, including payments, variations and final accounts.
  • Monitoring project performance, identifying commercial risks and implementing strategies to maximise profitability.
  • Negotiating subcontractor accounts and agreeing final accounts with clients and the supply chain.
  • Working closely with operational teams, clients and senior management to ensure projects are delivered commercially and contractually in line with business objectives.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior commercial team members while contributing to the continued development of the wider commercial function.
  • Maintaining accurate commercial records and producing regular financial reports for senior leadership.

The successful candidate will have previous experience in a Senior Quantity Surveying role within civil engineering or infrastructure and will possess a strong understanding of commercial management and contract administration. Experience working under NEC forms of contract is essential, together with excellent commercial awareness, negotiation skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

In return, you'll join a financially robust contractor offering a competitive salary and benefits package, long-term job security, structured career progression and the opportunity to contribute to the delivery of essential highway and environmental infrastructure projects across the South West.
