Senior Quantity Surveyor

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a major infrastructure project in Merseyside on an initial six-month contract, with the potential for extension.

This is a key commercial position within a high-value infrastructure environment, where you will take responsibility for the commercial management of a major client account. The successful candidate will work closely with project, procurement and operational teams, providing strong commercial control and ensuring financial performance is effectively managed throughout the project lifecycle.

• Take responsibility for the commercial management of a major client account.
• Act as the primary commercial point of contact, managing day-to-day client relationships.
• Prepare and manage Applications for Payment (AFP).
• Manage commercial change and variations, from identification through to agreement.
• Prepare accurate cost and financial forecasts.
• Produce end-of-life financial forecasts and provide clear visibility of anticipated final project costs.
• Lead month-end commercial reporting and ensure accurate financial information is provided within agreed timescales.
• Monitor project performance, identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
• Manage subcontract procurement, including commercial evaluation and negotiation.
• Oversee the ongoing commercial management and performance of subcontractors.
• Support the procurement of materials and plant, ensuring value and commercial control.
• Work collaboratively with project management, procurement, engineering and operational teams.
• Provide commercial advice and guidance to key project stakeholders.
• Maintain strong commercial governance and ensure contractual and financial processes are followed.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in construction, engineering, infrastructure or a related sector.

You will have a proven track record in client-facing commercial management and be confident managing applications for payment, change, forecasting, subcontract procurement and month-end reporting.

Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills are essential, together with the ability to work independently and take ownership of commercial responsibilities.

• Previous experience operating at Senior Quantity Surveyor level.
• Strong commercial management experience within construction, engineering or infrastructure.
• Proven experience managing client relationships and commercial accounts.
• Strong knowledge of change management, forecasting and financial reporting.
• Experience with subcontract procurement and management.
• Excellent commercial awareness and understanding of project financial controls.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple commercial priorities within a project environment.

• Experience within energy, utilities or major infrastructure projects.
• Experience working on large-scale construction or engineering programmes.
• Relevant Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management qualification.
• RICS, CIOB or equivalent professional membership.
