Senior Quantity Surveyor (Senior QS)
Location: Fawley Refinery Project, Near Southampton, Hampshire
Rate: £350 - £500 per day (Umbrella) – Dependent on Experience
Contract Length: 6 Months
Start Date: 03/08/2026

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a major refinery project at Fawley Refinery, near Southampton. The successful candidate will oversee the commercial management of the storage facility section of the project, working under a JCT contract.

Reporting into the Senior Commercial Manager, this role will be responsible for ensuring effective cost control, contract compliance, and successful commercial delivery throughout the project lifecycle.

This is a predominantly site-based position, requiring regular presence on the project to support delivery teams, with some flexibility for remote working where appropriate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all commercial aspects of the project from procurement through to final account.
  • Prepare and review cost plans, budgets, valuations, forecasts, and financial reports.
  • Administer JCT contracts and ensure contractual obligations are met.
  • Manage variations, change control, and commercial negotiations.
  • Oversee subcontractor procurement, payments, and account management.
  • Prepare interim applications, payment assessments, and final accounts.
  • Identify commercial risks and implement cost mitigation strategies.
  • Work closely with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
  • Provide regular commercial reporting to senior management.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on major construction, infrastructure, or industrial projects.
  • Strong knowledge and experience managing JCT contracts.
  • Excellent commercial management, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage subcontractors and multiple stakeholders effectively.
  • Relevant Quantity Surveying qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent).
  • Full UK driving licence preferred.
