Senior Quantity Surveyor – Net Zero Teesside Project
Multi Trades Recruitment are working on behalf of a leading main contractor to recruit an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the Net Zero Teesside Project based in Redcar and Cleveland.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role on one of the UK's most ambitious sustainability and infrastructure projects, contributing to the delivery of a pioneering carbon capture and storage development that will help drive the UK's journey towards net zero.
The Role
This is a project-based position offering hybrid working, with 3 days on site and 2 days working remotely.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will lead the commercial management of key project elements, ensuring costs are effectively controlled while delivering maximum value throughout the project lifecycle. You will also mentor and support junior commercial team members, helping to develop the next generation of industry professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial management of multiple project packages, managing all costs and income within your area of responsibility.
- Prepare, review and analyse tender documentation and cost forecasts.
- Oversee contract cost control and commercial reporting throughout the project.
- Negotiate commercial agreements with subcontractors and supply chain partners.
- Build and maintain strong commercial relationships with clients, customers and key stakeholders.
- Support procurement strategies and undertake constructability reviews.
- Prepare financial reconciliations, commercial reports and progress updates for senior project management.
- Ensure compliance with governance procedures while promoting lean construction methods and digital working practices.
- Supervise, mentor and develop junior Quantity Surveyors and commercial staff, supporting their professional development.
About You
We're looking for a commercially driven Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in major construction, civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
You will have excellent commercial acumen, strong contract administration skills and the confidence to manage stakeholder relationships while leading commercial activities across complex project packages.
Previous experience working on cost reimbursable contracts, particularly NEC4 Option E, would be highly advantageous.
Essential Requirements
- BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent).
- Chartered status, or actively working towards chartership, with RICS, CICES or CIOB.
- Valid CSCS Card (Professionally Qualified Person).
- Experience working with Cost Reimbursable Contracts, ideally NEC4 Option E.
- Previous experience on major construction, civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of commercial management software and contract administration.
- Ability to successfully obtain SC Security Clearance.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and leadership skills.
