Our client, Taylor Woodrow, a trusted provider of infrastructure and civil engineering solutions, is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team in London.
Taylor Woodrow is playing a key role in delivering the transformational HS2 programme at Old Oak Common, which will become one of the UK's largest and best-connected railway stations.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team supporting the delivery of multiple construction packages across the project. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a high-performing commercial function on a complex major infrastructure scheme operating under NEC contracts.
The successful candidate will take ownership of key work packages, providing commercial leadership from procurement through to final account, while supporting project teams to maximise value, manage risk and achieve commercial targets.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for the commercial management of a number of work packages across the project. Working closely with operational teams, planners, engineers and supply chain partners, you will ensure robust cost control, accurate reporting and contractual compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
This role will suit someone with strong NEC experience, excellent cost management skills and a proactive approach to managing change, risk and opportunity on complex infrastructure projects.
Duties
Commercial & Cost Management
- Lead the commercial management of multiple work packages across the project.
- Produce accurate Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) reports, forecasts and month-end reporting.
- Monitor project costs, budgets and commitments to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
- Manage resource and productivity reporting, including labour, plant and materials.
- Drive cost certainty and commercial performance across allocated areas.
NEC Contract Administration
- Administer NEC contracts effectively and ensure contractual obligations are met.
- Manage compensation events, early warnings and change control processes.
- Protect and enhance the commercial position of the business through effective contract management.
- Ensure contractual notices and communications are issued in a timely manner.
Procurement & Supply Chain
- Lead subcontract procurement activities from tender through to award.
- Evaluate tender submissions and negotiate commercial agreements.
- Build strong relationships with subcontractors and supply chain partners.
- Manage subcontract performance and final account negotiations.
Change, Risk & Opportunity Management
- Identify, quantify and recover project changes.
- Lead the commercial assessment of variations and compensation events.
- Support value engineering initiatives to maximise project outcomes.
Stakeholder Management
- Work collaboratively with operational and delivery teams.
- Develop strong working relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners.
Person Specification
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, fit out, or major infrastructure projects.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts and NEC change management processes.
- Experience managing high-value subcontract packages.
- Excellent cost reporting, forecasting and CVR experience.
- Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple work packages.
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
