Our client is one of the leading UK wide civil engineering, structures and construction Main Contractors, working across all sectors.
They are currently looking to recruit Senior Quantity Surveyors to work on a 4 year major civils and structures project in Cumbria, with an excellent package and subsistence allowance available.
As the ideal candidate, you will be from a civils and structures background, who's confident working with stakeholders at all levels, that thrives in fast‑paced environments, and has a strong grasp of NEC contracts and construction processes.
Senior Quantity Surveyor roles and responsibilities:
- Able to build strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders, monitor performance, resolving disputes, and ensuring smooth project delivery.
- Lead post‑contract commercial management including budgets, forecasting, CVRs, cost reporting, and final accounts.
- Manage change control, maintain financial impact assessments, and measure variations from revised drawings.
- Oversee procurement strategies, approve subcontract orders, and ensure robust commercial terms.
- Negotiate compensation events and oversee subcontract administration, payments, and commercial correspondence.
- Identify cost risks, opportunities, and mitigation strategies, ensuring accurate monthly reporting and governance.
- Support delivery teams with commercial advice, cost analysis, and contract compliance.
- Mentor and manage QSs, AQSs, trainees, and graduates to ensure high standards across all commercial outputs.
- Analyse costs, produce detailed performance reports, and contribute to continuous improvement.
Senior Quantity Surveyor requirements:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or construction related qualification with relevant experience, with RICS membership (or working towards) an advantage.
- 5+ years' Quantity Surveying experience working on major civil engineering projects (rail, highways, infrastructure, utilities).
- Strong knowledge of NEC forms of contracts, including variations, claims, and dispute resolution.
- Excellent cost control, budgeting, forecasting, and high level commercial reporting experience.
- Skilled in negotiation, stakeholder management, and client communication.
- Able to demonstrate strong leadership ability with experience mentoring junior staff.
- Highly detail focused with excellent financial and contractual accuracy.
