We are seeking a Commercial Manager to join our client's dynamic commercial organisation. This pivotal role involves providing bid, commercial knowledge, and support across our client's New Installation (NI) business and Client executive account. The successful candidate will manage pre-contract work, winning risks and opportunities, and play a key role in post-contract management. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence work-winning strategies and enhance customer experiences through continuous improvement initiatives.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Act as a member of the Head of Commercial and Procurement senior management team.
- Serve as a business partner to drive sustainable and high-quality results.
- Manage commercial pre-award contractual duties including reviewing client contracts, preparing tender documentation, and developing solutions to manage risks.
- Lead negotiations and execute agreements related to bonds, warranties, and insurances.
- Maintain accurate contract files and manage pre-contract/award correspondence.
- Support bid activities across various business lines as directed.
- Develop work-winning negotiation and commercial strategies to support sales in managing bid responses and developing customer proposals.
- Plan and manage inputs from different stakeholders to improve bid content and deliver value propositions.
- Review tender project programmes with operations to ensure full resourcing and pricing reflection.
- Develop and maintain a bid library and support sales with pricing strategies.
- Provide administrative support and ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven track record in operational and commercial management within the building construction and/or maintenance industry.
- BSc or equivalent in a relevant field, with a recognised qualification in Quantity Surveying preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience at a senior level in a commercial environment.
- Strong presentation, negotiation, and influencing skills.
- Excellent time management, planning, and analytical skills.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to solve complex issues and make decisions based on accurate analysis.
- Demonstrated experience in estimating project costs and managing Health & Safety compliance.
- IT literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office suite.
