Location: Office-based
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm

Salary: £65,000 – £75,000 per annum (depending on experience)

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a growing commercial roofing contractor. This is a newly created role offering the chance to help establish and develop a new commercial department while working closely with senior management.

This position would suit an ambitious Quantity Surveyor with extensive roofing experience who is looking to play a key role in the continued growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and produce monthly cost reports.
  • Procure and commercially manage subcontract accounts from tender stage through to final account.
  • Prepare and submit interim payment applications and final accounts.
  • Identify, negotiate and agree contract variations with subcontractors and main contractors.
  • Identify project cost risks at an early stage and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Carry out value engineering exercises to maximise project profitability.
  • Assist clients in defining project requirements and undertaking feasibility studies.
  • Monitor and maintain positive contract cash flow.
  • Prepare turnover and profit forecasts.
  • Support the estimating and procurement teams where required.
  • Resolve contractual and commercial issues throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage multiple projects independently while maintaining commercial control.

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying.
  • Minimum of 5 years' Quantity Surveying experience within the roofing sector.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts and contract law.
  • Knowledge of insurance and commercial risk management.
  • Proven ability to independently manage projects from inception through to final account.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience using Apple Mac systems is advantageous but not essential.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and capable of working independently.
  • Ambition to contribute to the continued growth and development of the business.
