Senior Quantity Surveyor - Norway

The Opportunity

We are supporting a leading international contractor in the appointment of a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a major data centre programme in Norway.

This is a senior project-level commercial role with responsibility for the full commercial management of complex construction works, working closely with project leadership to protect commercial performance, manage contractual risk and support successful project delivery from procurement through to final account.

The successful candidate will take ownership of cost control, subcontractor management, valuations, change management, contractual administration and financial reporting, while also supporting the development of junior commercial staff within the project team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take ownership of the commercial management of projects from pre-construction through to final account
  • Lead procurement activities including tender preparation, subcontractor selection, package placement and ongoing subcontract management
  • Prepare and manage forecasts, cash flow, valuations, reconciliations and final accounts
  • Manage variations, change control, claims and associated commercial documentation
  • Maintain strong commercial controls to protect margin and maximise project performance
  • Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle
  • Interpret and manage contractual obligations, notices and correspondence to protect the commercial position of the business
  • Support the negotiation and management of subcontract agreements, warranties, bonds and related contractual matters
  • Provide regular commercial reporting to senior project and business leadership
  • Mentor and support Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors within the wider commercial team
Candidate Profile
  • Significant experience operating as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within a major contractor environment
  • Strong track record delivering commercial outcomes across large-scale construction, industrial, infrastructure, mission-critical or technically complex projects
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
  • Strong knowledge of contract administration, commercial management, procurement and financial reporting
  • Experience managing subcontractor accounts, variations, claims and final accounts
  • Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • Commercially astute with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced project environment
Desirable
  • Chartered status or membership of a relevant professional institution such as RICS or CIOB
  • Additional training or development in contract law, dispute resolution or commercial management
  • Experience working on large-scale technical, industrial or mission-critical construction projects
