Eden Brown is delighted to be partnering with a leading international engineering, infrastructure and consultancy business to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor for its growing Water team in the Midlands.
Our client is a globally recognised consultancy delivering complex infrastructure programmes across sectors including water, environment, transportation, energy and major projects. With a strong reputation for technical excellence and sustainable delivery, they are investing heavily in their commercial management capability and expanding their presence across the UK and Europe.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing commercial team supporting major capital investment programmes for UK water companies and public sector clients. The role offers excellent career progression opportunities, with potential exposure to water, environmental, rail and nuclear projects.
The Role
Reporting to the Water Cost & Commercial Lead, you will provide commercial and contract management expertise on major infrastructure projects, predominantly across the Midlands region. You will play a key role in both pre and post-contract activities, ensuring effective commercial control and successful project delivery.
The successful candidate will bring strong NEC contract knowledge, major project experience and the ability to build effective relationships with clients, project teams and supply chain partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Contract & Commercial Management
- Administration of NEC3 and NEC4 ECC contracts, particularly Options A, C and E
- Budget management and cost control
- Payment assessment and support with payment certification
- Defined Cost assessment and cost forecasting
- Management of commercial records and contractual documentation
- Building collaborative relationships with clients, contractors and stakeholders
Pre-Contract Services
- Feasibility studies and cost planning
- Preparation of tender documentation
- Tender evaluation and procurement support
- Risk identification and management
Post-Contract Services:
- Contract administration and compliance management
- Cost reporting and valuation
- Assessment and negotiation of compensation events and variations
- Claims management and dispute resolution
- Agreement of final accounts and project close-out
About You
We are keen to hear from candidates who possess:
- Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
- Chartered status with RICS, or significant progress towards chartership
- Strong post-graduate experience within the Water, Environmental, Rail and/or Nuclear sectors
- Demonstrable NEC3/NEC4 contract administration experience, particularly Options A, C and E
- Experience of Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and/or Early Subcontractor Involvement (ESI)
- Strong commercial, contractual and cost management skills
- Risk management experience
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations
- Previous line management or mentoring experience
- CSCS card (Water Hygiene Card desirable)
- Experience working client-side with contractors and joint ventures
- Ability to attend site and project offices a minimum of three days per week
- Right to work in the UK
