The Senior Robotics Engineer job, based in County Louth, is a full-time permanent position and will play a key role in the design, development, integration, and deployment of advanced robotic systems and automation solutions.

Candidates should be based within a commutable distance of County Louth, Ireland, or be willing to relocate.

This role offers an exciting mix of robotics software and hardware integration, motion planning, control systems, AI-driven automation, system development, prototyping, testing, and technical leadership responsibilities, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to transform innovative concepts into reliable and scalable robotic products.

Ideal candidates for the Senior Robotics Engineer job will have experience in the following areas:

  • Leading the end-to-end development of robotic systems, including mechanical design, embedded systems, and control architecture.
  • Developing and optimising algorithms for perception, motion planning, localisation, and robotic control.
  • Integrating sensors, actuators, embedded hardware, and robotic software frameworks.
  • Developing and working with robotics software using platforms such as ROS and ROS2.
  • Building, testing, refining, and deploying robotic prototypes and production-ready systems.
  • Developing solutions involving robotic perception, sensor fusion, computer vision, and autonomous systems.
  • Working with embedded systems, microcontrollers, and real-time control technologies.
  • Collaborating closely with software, electrical, mechanical, and automation engineers to ensure seamless system performance.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of advanced robotics and automation solutions.
  • Managing project timelines, technical milestones, deliverables, and engineering priorities.
  • Mentoring and supporting junior engineers within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Preparing detailed technical documentation, system specifications, test reports, and engineering documentation.
  • Applying strong problem-solving skills to complex robotics, automation, software, and control challenges.
  • Researching emerging robotics technologies and contributing to research and development initiatives.
  • Supporting the transition of innovative robotic concepts into reliable, scalable, and production-ready solutions.

The successful candidate will ideally possess:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent engineering discipline.
  • Strong hands-on experience in robotics system design, development, integration, and implementation.
  • Proficiency in C++ and Python for robotics applications.
  • Strong knowledge of ROS/ROS2, SLAM, and motion planning frameworks such as MoveIt and Navigation Stack.
  • Experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, and real-time control.
  • A solid understanding of computer vision, sensor fusion, perception systems, and autonomous robotics.
  • Familiarity with robotics simulation tools such as Gazebo, RViz, Isaac Sim, or MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Experience with AI and machine learning applications within robotics, such as object recognition and autonomous decision-making (advantageous).
  • Knowledge of industrial robotics, mobile robotic platforms, or collaborative robots (cobots) (advantageous).
  • Familiarity with mechanical hardware design and CAD tools such as SolidWorks or Fusion 360 (advantageous).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to develop solutions to complex technical challenges.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to mentor and support other engineers.
  • An innovative, proactive, and professional approach to robotics development and engineering challenges.
