£48,000 - £55,000 per annum.

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Server and Storage Engineer to join their established internal team in South West London. As the Senior Server and Storage Engineer you will bring your experience in Server, Storage and Cloud technologies to deliver solutions and help define IT strategy.

This role is an excellent opportunity for an IT Professional with strong foundations who is looking to further their career within Cloud technologies.

Core responsibilities:

• Support the operational management and strategic development of server, storage and virtualisation services, including the on-premises VMware environment.
• Collaborate with technical specialists and wider IT teams to deliver reliable, high-quality infrastructure services.
• Contribute to the design, implementation, testing and upgrading of systems and infrastructure solutions, ensuring alignment with IT strategy and architectural best practice.
• Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve performance, efficiency, productivity and cost-effectiveness.
• Support backup and recovery strategies, capacity planning, infrastructure upgrades and technology roadmaps.
• Monitor service performance and availability, ensuring agreed service levels and operational standards are maintained.

Essential

• Extensive knowledge of physical and virtual server technologies.
• Experience of operating systems deployment and management, including Windows Server and Linux/GPFS.
• Experience working with technical specialists to deliver high-quality IT services across large user environments.
• Understanding of server monitoring and management tools, such as Nagios and SolarWinds.
• Knowledge of IT backup standards, policies and procedures, with experience implementing these in large-scale environments.
• Good operational knowledge of server firewall configuration, security and hardening.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex network and system issues and solve logical problems.

 Advantageous:

• Knowledge of cloud and cluster technologies, particularly AWS.
• Knowledge of programming languages and the ability to develop code independently.
• Experience with VMware technologies, including vCenter, vSphere, HA and DRS.
• Practical knowledge of SAN and storage technologies.
• Knowledge of SQL Server infrastructure.
