A day in the life of a Murphy Senior SHES Manager:
- The Senior SHES Manager for the VSLM JV will be responsible for leading and managing all Safety, Health, Environment and Sustainability aspects across the Joint Venture.
- The Manager will lead a team of SHES Advisors across the JV
- This role ensures compliance with all relevant legislation, standards, and company policies while promoting a proactive safety culture
- The manager will ensure that all management system, reporting and cultural requirements of both joint venture partners and the client are met
- Develop, maintain and implement the VSLM JV Management Systems, ensuring compliance with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001
- Champion the Culture Development Programme (behaviour-based safety)
- Develop and deliver a SHES strategy for the joint venture, ensuring compliance with legislation, Client rules / codes of practice, and industry standards
- Conduct and document regular site assurance audits, inspections, and annual performance reviews
- Lead investigations into incidents, near-misses, and non-conformances, ensuring root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions
- Monitor environmental impact and ensure compliance with sustainability goals and environmental regulations
- Provide expert guidance and leadership to site teams, management, and subcontractors on all SHES matters
- Deliver targeted training, inductions, and toolbox talks specific to high-risk activities
- Maintain accurate SHES records, reports, and KPIs, and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Stay up to date and advise senior management on relevant legislation, standards, and industry best practices.
- Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure full compliance with legal and contractual obligations.
- Identify significant hazards and support the implementation of appropriate control measures.

- Relevant Health & Safety Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years relevant SHES management experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with one or more teams
- Experience working in joint ventures would be beneficial
- Experience leading incident investigations and dealing with regulatory bodies
- Good written and spoken communication abilities
- Good IT skills with a high attention to detail
- A flexible and proactive approach
- Demonstrate leadership skills
- Proven track record in highly regulated environments
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Full clean driving licence
