An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced Senior Shift Technician to join the engineering team within one of London's most prestigious landmark commercial buildings.
This is a senior, hands-on position within a technically complex and high-profile environment. You'll work alongside the Shift Lead and wider engineering team, taking additional responsibility for the shift and stepping up to lead the team whenever the Shift Lead is unavailable.
The position also offers a genuine progression route, with the successful engineer being supported through further technical development including HV Authorised Person or Mechanical Authorised Person training.
The Role
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across a large, technically complex building.
- Work across a range of critical electrical and mechanical building services.
- Support the Shift Lead with the day-to-day management of the engineering shift team.
- Take responsibility for the shift and engineering team in the Shift Lead's absence.
- Provide technical guidance and support to other engineers.
- Carry out fault-finding and repairs across electrical and wider M&E systems.
- Work with LV distribution, switchgear, UPS, generators, lighting, BMS, HVAC, pumps and associated building services.
- Respond to plant faults, alarms and engineering incidents.
- Coordinate engineering activity and help prioritise reactive workloads.
- Complete PPM tasks and ensure maintenance standards are consistently achieved.
- Support permits, isolations and safe systems of work.
- Supervise specialist contractors working within engineering areas.
- Complete accurate CAFM records, engineering reports and shift handovers.
- Support emergency response and escalation procedures.
- Maintain high standards of health & safety, compliance and engineering best practice.
About You
- Level 3 Electrical qualification such as NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent.
- Strong electrical bias with good knowledge of wider mechanical building services.
- Previous experience as a Shift Technician, Shift Engineer, Senior Engineer or similar.
- Experience within commercial FM, critical environments, data centres, banking or another technically demanding building.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability.
- Good understanding of electrical distribution and critical building infrastructure.
