The Role

As a Family Help Social Worker, you will:

  • Work intensively with children and families to build trust and create positive change.
  • Undertake assessments and develop plans for children in need, child protection, and looked after children.
  • Manage a caseload across the continuum of need, including early help and statutory work.
  • Use creativity and multi-agency partnerships to promote the safeguarding of children.
  • Be part ofthe team's specialist practice and help shape innovative safeguarding strategies.
  • Be able to work at a fast pace and under pressure, going on duty 1:8 weeks.
  • Work collaboratively with Early Help practitioners, family support workers, and multi-agency partners.
  • Undertake and support court work, including pre-proceedings and post-proceedings processes, ensuring robust planning and safeguarding for children and families.

Criteria

We're looking for passionate, skilled professionals who are ready to make a real impact. To join Family Help as a Social Worker, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Qualified social worker: Registered with Social Work England.
  • Post-qualified experience: Minimum of 1 year (more for senior roles), with proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Interest in family support: Genuine enthusiasm for working with children and families, and understanding the unique challenges they face.
  • Safeguarding expertise: Solid knowledge of safeguarding, assessment, and intervention processes, or a strong willingness to learn and develop in this area.
  • Assessment and planning: Confident in undertaking assessments and knowledgeable about safeguarding processes, including Child in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After Children procedures.
  • Court work: Experience or understanding of court work, including pre-proceedings and post-proceedings, and the ability to contribute to legal planning and documentation.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and partners.
