About the Role

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Social Worker to join the Haverhill Social Care Team within West Suffolk. This is a fast-paced and rewarding role supporting children and families across Child in Need, Child Protection, Looked After Children, and Assessment services.You will play a key role in delivering high-quality assessments and managing complex cases, with a strong focus on safeguarding, support, and prevention.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake assessments under Section 17 and Section 47
  • Manage Child in Need (CIN) and Child Protection (CP) plans
  • Work across Child Assessment, Looked After Children, and Support & Prevention services
  • Manage a fast-paced caseload (average of 30 cases)
  • Provide effective safeguarding interventions and support to children and families
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners
  • Contribute to Child Protection conferences and meetings
  • Deliver high-quality, timely assessments and reports
Skills & Experience
  • Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
  • Strong experience within assessment teams
  • Ability to manage a high-volume, fast-paced caseload
  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding legislation and frameworks
  • Confident in managing CIN and CP cases
  • Excellent assessment, communication, and organisational skills
Working Arrangements
  • Hybrid working - 3 days per week office-based
  • Haverhill office is the primary base due to proximity to families
  • Occasional working from West Suffolk House depending on caseload
  • Attendance at West Suffolk House required for CP conferences and meetings
  • Condensed hours over 4 days will be considered
  • Located close to the borders of Cambridge and Peterborough
