Senior Street Scene Engineer

Rate: £42.00 PAYE | £56.60 Umbrella
Reporting to: Principal Engineer
Team Management: Supervision of up to 8 staff, including permanent employees, agency staff and consultants.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Street Scene Engineer to lead the delivery of highways, street lighting and civil engineering projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineering professional who enjoys managing complex infrastructure projects, leading teams, and working with a wide range of stakeholders to deliver improvements to the public realm. You will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

• Lead the delivery of highways, street lighting and civil engineering projects.
  
• Manage projects from planning and design through to implementation, monitoring and completion.
  
• Supervise, mentor and develop a team of up to 8 staff members.
  
• Act as a technical expert, providing advice and guidance on engineering matters.
  
• Prepare and present technical reports and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  
• Liaise with residents, developers, contractors and other stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes.
  
• Monitor project performance, budgets and service standards.
  
• Drive continuous improvement and implement innovative engineering solutions.
  
• Deputise for the Principal Engineer when required.
  

You will have:

• Significant experience in highway engineering, street lighting and/or civil engineering.
  
• Experience managing complex engineering projects and programmes of work.
  
• Previous experience leading, supervising and developing teams.
  
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  
• Knowledge of current legislation, policies and best practice relating to highways and engineering services.
  
• A proactive, customer-focused approach to service delivery.
  

• Relevant qualification in Highways Engineering, Civil Engineering, Street Lighting Engineering or a related discipline.
  
• Membership of, or eligibility for membership of, a relevant professional engineering institution.
  
• Demonstrable post-qualification experience across a broad range of engineering projects.
  

• £42.00 per hour PAYE
• £56.60 per hour Umbrella
