The role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse client portfolio while developing your technical, advisory and leadership skills within a supportive tax team.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Tax Associate, you’ll take responsibility for preparing more complex tax returns while developing your review, client management and mentoring responsibilities.

You’ll act as a key point of contact for a portfolio of clients, provide support on tax planning and research assignments, and assist with more complex tax matters.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Tax Associate looking to progress their career and develop towards a future Tax Manager position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare complex UK tax returns for individuals.
  • Develop skill of preparing US personal tax returns
  • Review straightforward tax returns for accuracy, compliance and quality
  • Ensure tax returns and payments are completed accurately and within required deadlines
  • Support the delivery of tax planning and advisory projects
  • Undertake detailed tax research and communicate findings to colleagues and senior management
  • Support clients with tax-related queries and provide clear, practical guidance
  • Act as a key point of contact for a portfolio of clients
  • Assist with responses to tax authority notices and provide supporting documentation
  • Develop strong and effective client relationships through regular communication and meetings
  • Supervise, support and mentor junior Tax Associates
  • Review junior colleagues' work and provide constructive feedback
  • Manage multiple client engagements and ensure work is delivered accurately and on time
  • Identify opportunities to improve tax processes and implement best practice

Personal Profile

We’re looking for an experienced tax professional who is technically capable, client-focused and ready to take on greater responsibility.

You’ll have strong analytical skills and attention to detail, alongside the confidence to communicate tax matters clearly to clients and colleagues.

You’ll also enjoy supporting the development of more junior members of the team and be motivated to continue progressing towards a management-level role.

  • Strong knowledge of UK tax regulations
  • Development of US personal tax knowledge
  • Experience preparing complex tax returns
  • Developing experience in tax return review
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Experience managing multiple client engagements and deadlines
  • A strong client-service mindset
  • The ability to explain tax issues clearly to clients
  • Experience supporting or mentoring junior colleagues
  • Proficiency with tax preparation and research software, such as CCH and Karbon

Qualifications & Experience

  • AAT or ATT qualification; ACA / ACCA desirable
  • Typically, 3–5 years' experience within a public accounting or tax environment
  • Experience working with personal and/or business tax returns
  • Experience across UK and/or US taxation would be advantageous
