Are you a Senior Temporary Works Design Engineer looking for your next long-term contract opportunity?
We are working with an established engineering team that is looking to strengthen its temporary works capability with an experienced Senior Design Engineer. With a growing pipeline of major infrastructure work, this is an opportunity to join a busy team delivering a broad range of technically challenging temporary works designs.
The role will cover a varied portfolio of civil engineering temporary works, including earthworks, formwork, falsework, shoring, propping, scaffolding and wider infrastructure works.
The position can be based from either Canary Wharf or Derby, with no preference between the two locations. Flexible hybrid working is available, with typically 3-4 days per week working from home.
The requirement is urgent, although candidates with a notice period will be considered for the right experience. There is also scope to appoint multiple engineers due to the increasing workload.
Key Responsibilities
· Deliver temporary works designs across a broad range of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
· Undertake structural and geotechnical calculations and technical design work.
· Develop temporary works solutions for earthworks, formwork, falsework, shoring, propping and scaffolding.
· Review temporary works design briefs and determine appropriate engineering solutions.
· Produce safe, practical and buildable designs in accordance with relevant standards and project requirements.
· Review drawings, calculations and technical information as part of the design assurance process.
· Identify and manage temporary works design risks.
· Provide technical input into construction methodology, buildability and value engineering reviews.
· Coordinate with construction teams, engineers, consultants and other project stakeholders.
· Manage your own workload and technical deliverables across multiple projects.
· Provide technical guidance and support to less experienced engineers where required.
· Ensure designs are delivered in line with current standards, CDM requirements and engineering best practice.
About You
· Experienced Senior Design Engineer with a strong background in civil engineering temporary works design.
· Experience delivering temporary works across infrastructure projects.
· Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and temporary works design.
· Experience with earthworks, formwork, falsework, shoring, propping and/or scaffolding would be advantageous.
· Confident working independently and able to make an immediate contribution to a busy engineering team.
· Able to undertake and review engineering calculations and technical design documentation.
· Good understanding of temporary works design risk, buildability and design assurance.
· Experience using AutoCAD. No specialist software package is essential.
· Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with multidisciplinary project teams and stakeholders.
· A degree in a relevant engineering discipline would be advantageous, although candidates with an HNC/HND and strong relevant experience will also be considered.
· Chartered Engineer status would be advantageous but is not essential.
· A CSCS card is not required for this position but would be beneficial for potential site visits.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Temporary Works Design Engineer to join a busy engineering environment on a long-term Inside IR35 contract, delivering a varied range of infrastructure temporary works while benefiting from flexible hybrid working.
The contract is expected to run for 12-18 months. There may be some flexibility on rate for particularly strong candidates. Standard working hours are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with no regular night or weekend working expected.
