Senior Test Technician

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Test Technician to join a well-established manufacturing business specialising in electrical and electronic products.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will oversee the product testing function while managing a small team of Test Technicians. Working closely with Production, Quality and Technical teams, you will ensure products meet the highest standards of safety, quality and performance while driving continuous improvement across testing processes.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Testing & Compliance

  • Lead the testing of electrical and electronic products.
  • Ensure products meet electrical safety, performance and quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain testing procedures and documentation.
  • Carry out product validation, fault finding and technical investigations.
  • Maintain accurate testing records and compliance documentation.
  • Support product certification and regulatory compliance.

Team Leadership

  • Manage, mentor and support a team of Test Technicians.
  • Allocate daily workloads and monitor performance.
  • Provide technical guidance and training.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Investigate product failures and customer returns.
  • Carry out root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support continuous improvement and quality initiatives.
  • Contribute to product development and value engineering projects.

Documentation & Technical Support

  • Maintain work instructions, build sheets and test procedures.
  • Help develop improved testing methods and automation where appropriate.
  • Provide technical support to internal departments.
  • Assist with customer technical enquiries and warranty investigations where required.

About You

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Previous experience within an electrical or electronic manufacturing environment.
  • Strong electrical testing and fault-finding skills.
  • Experience testing electronic assemblies or electrical products.
  • Previous experience leading or supervising a technical team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • A methodical approach with excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently and use initiative.

Desirable

  • Electrical or Electronic qualification (HNC, HND, NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent).
