Senior to Lead EICA Engineer (Design Biased) - Water Sector

Progressive Recruitment

Remote-friendly

We're supporting a growing engineering delivery partner working across multiple long-term UK water frameworks. Due to continued project wins, they are looking to hire Senior, Lead, and Principal EICA Engineers to strengthen their design and delivery capability.

This is a genuinely flexible, remote-first role where you'll still stay close to delivery - attending key site visits, FATs, and collaborative sessions without the need for constant travel.

You'll be joining a team trusted to deliver high-value, complex EICA solutions across the full project lifecycle - from early design through to commissioning.

The Opportunity

Depending on your level, you'll either:

  • Support delivery of key EICA packages (Senior)
  • Take ownership of workstreams and coordinate design (Lead)
  • Or drive technical delivery and influence projects at a strategic level (Principal)

All roles offer exposure to client-facing work, technical ownership, and real project impact across critical UK infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce cost-effective, compliant EICA design documentation
  • Develop electrical, control, and instrumentation designs for water projects
  • Carry out site surveys and provide technical input on live assets
  • Attend and report on Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs)
  • Ensure designs (internal and subcontractor) meet specification and quality standards
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, including:
    • Control philosophies
    • Functional design specifications
    • Equipment and material requisitions
  • Review supplier quotations and produce technical bid assessments
  • Prepare installation scopes of work
  • Ensure all designs meet budget, programme, and compliance requirements
  • Provide technical support during construction and commissioning

Additional Scope by Level

Senior Engineers

  • Deliver defined packages within larger projects
  • Support client interactions and internal coordination
  • Contribute to design quality and documentation

Lead Engineers

  • Own EICA design delivery across projects or workstreams
  • Allocate work and manage delivery against programme
  • Act as a key interface between client, suppliers, and delivery teams

Principal Engineers

  • Lead projects or act as the technical authority for EICA
  • Drive design strategy, quality, and governance
  • Provide oversight of multiple workstreams or frameworks
  • Play a key role in client engagement and technical leadership

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Recent experience in the UK water sector (non-negotiable)
  • Strong client-facing experience
  • Proven background in EICA / EC&I design and delivery
  • Experience working across design → commissioning lifecycle
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations

Technical Experience:

  • Electrical, Control & Instrumentation design
  • PLC / SCADA systems (desirable)
  • Design documentation & technical review
  • Supplier engagement and technical evaluations

Why Join?

  • Remote-first working - with minimal but meaningful travel
  • High-impact frameworks - long-term secured project pipeline
  • Variety of work - from design through to commissioning
  • Clear progression - opportunities across Senior → Lead → Principal
  • Autonomy & ownership - trusted to deliver, not micromanaged
