A leading planning consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Town Planner to join its growing Sheffield team.

The Role

As a Senior Town Planner, you will play a key role in managing planning projects from inception through to determination, while developing strong relationships with clients, local authorities and other stakeholders.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a varied caseload of planning projects across residential, commercial and mixed-use developments.
  • Preparing and submitting planning applications and appeals.
  • Providing strategic planning advice to clients and project teams.
  • Undertaking planning appraisals and development potential assessments.
  • Liaising with local planning authorities, consultees and other stakeholders.
  • Managing projects and ensuring deadlines, budgets and client expectations are met.
  • Supporting junior members of the team through mentoring and knowledge sharing.
  • Contributing to business development and helping to strengthen existing client relationships.


About You

We're looking for an experienced planner with a strong understanding of the UK planning system and a genuine interest in development and the built environment.

You're likely to have:

  • A degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline.
  • MRTPI status or be working towards chartership.
  • Several years' experience within a planning consultancy, local authority or similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of the English planning system.
  • Experience managing planning applications and providing professional planning advice.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and project management abilities.
  • A commercial mindset and the confidence to engage directly with clients.
