Senior Trainer/Assessor (Bricklaying)

Location: Barking, London

Salary: £44,000 – £50,000 + £6000 Regional allowance

Contract: Full-time | Permanent

The Role

As a Senior Trainer/Assessor (Bricklaying), you will deliver engaging apprenticeship training and assessment, ensuring learners develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to achieve successful outcomes.

Working closely with employers, apprentices, and internal teams, you'll manage learner progress, support End-Point Assessment readiness, maintain regulatory compliance, and contribute to the continuous improvement of apprenticeship provision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality Bricklaying apprenticeship training, coaching, and assessment.
  • Manage a caseload of apprentices, supporting progress through to successful EPA.
  • Conduct learner reviews, progress monitoring, and employer engagement meetings.
  • Assess vocational competence and complete NVQ assessment activities.
  • Ensure compliance with ESFA funding rules, Ofsted requirements, and awarding body standards.
  • Adapt learning delivery to meet individual learner needs, including SEND support where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate learner records, documentation, and progress tracking systems.
  • Develop and update training materials to reflect current industry standards and best practice.
  • Build strong relationships with employers to support learner development and achievement.
  • Support quality assurance activities, KPI reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Promote safeguarding, Prevent, British Values, and positive learner behaviours throughout delivery.
  • Contribute to wider commercial training programmes, including technical, health & safety, customer service, and professional development where required.

The Ideal Candidate

We're looking for an experienced apprenticeship professional with strong occupational expertise in Bricklaying and a passion for supporting learner success within the Construction and Housebuilding sector.

You'll ideally have:

  • Experience delivering Construction or Bricklaying Apprenticeships to successful completion.
  • Occupational competence within Bricklaying and the new-build housing sector.
  • Experience supporting apprentices through Gateway and End-Point Assessment (EPA).
  • Assessor qualification (TAQA, A1, D32/D33) or relevant training and assessment experience.
  • Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one.
  • Level 2 or above Bricklaying qualification (Level 3 desirable).
  • Strong understanding of ESFA funding rules, apprenticeship standards, and Ofsted requirements.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, Prevent, British Values, and inclusive learning practices.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, mentoring, and employer engagement skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with experience using digital learner management and apprenticeship tracking systems.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required.
