We are working with an award-winning transport and logistics business to recruit an experienced Senior Transport Planner. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established operation specialising in construction logistics, where you'll play a key role in planning a busy fleet while leading and supporting a team of planners.
Reporting into the Flatbed Operations Manager, you'll be responsible for managing the day-to-day planning of approximately 20-30 Class 1 flatbed vehicles, ensuring maximum fleet utilisation, excellent customer service and efficient operational performance across the network. This is a role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem solving and can confidently make decisions under pressure.

- Plan and optimise a dedicated fleet of approximately 20-30 Class 1 flatbed vehicles
- Maximise vehicle utilisation while maintaining exceptional customer service
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with drivers
- Coordinate vehicle inspections, maintenance schedules and driver holidays
- Work closely with Operations and Commercial teams to ensure customer requirements are met
- Support the wider planning function to ensure workloads are effectively managed
- Coach and support members of the planning team to drive operational performance
- Monitor and improve key transport KPIs
- Ensure jobs are completed accurately and handed over for invoicing
- React quickly to changing operational demands and resolve issues efficiently
We are looking for an experienced Transport Planner who is confident managing a busy fleet and enjoys working in a fast-moving logistics environment.
You'll ideally have-
- Previous experience within a Transport Planner or Senior Transport Planner position
- Experience planning a fleet of 20+ HGV Class 1 vehicles
- Strong knowledge of transport planning within a distribution or logistics operation
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to build strong relationships with drivers and internal stakeholders
- The ability to prioritise workloads and make effective decisions under pressure
- A proactive and resilient approach with strong organisational skills
- CPC qualification or a willingness to work towards one
- Experience planning flatbed vehicles
- Experience within construction logistics or heavy haulage
- Previous experience coaching or mentoring other planners
