Its work spans SuDS, flood risk management, flood alleviation, drainage, hydraulic modelling and nature-based solutions, with projects designed to provide long-term benefits for communities and the environment.

The Role

You'll be involved across the full project lifecycle, working on schemes ranging from smaller-scale SuDS interventions through to larger flood alleviation and drainage projects.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering water engineering projects from feasibility and concept through to detailed design and construction.
  • Developing SuDS, drainage and flood alleviation schemes for public and private-sector clients.
  • Undertaking hydraulic modelling and analysis to support engineering solutions.
  • Producing high-quality civil and drainage design packages.
  • Preparing technical reports, drawings, calculations and specifications.
  • Working directly with clients, local authorities and other stakeholders to develop and progress schemes.
  • Supporting project and commercial management, including programmes, resources and deliverables.
  • Providing technical input into more complex projects.
  • Contributing to flood risk assessments, drainage strategies and feasibility studies.
  • Supporting bids, fee proposals and business development activity.
  • Mentoring and supporting junior engineers.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the wider civil and environmental engineering team.
  • Ensuring projects consider sustainability, environmental impact, health and safety and buildability.

About You

We're looking for a technically strong Water Engineer who is confident taking ownership of projects and communicating with clients and stakeholders.
You'll ideally have:

  • Strong experience in water engineering, drainage, flood risk management or SuDS design.
  • Experience delivering projects from feasibility through to detailed design and construction.
  • Experience with InfoDrainage or similar drainage/hydraulic modelling software.
  • Good CAD skills, ideally including Civil 3D.
  • Experience with hydraulic modelling would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of UK drainage and flood risk management principles and standards.
  • Experience working with local authorities, developers or other public/private-sector clients.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers.
  • A relevant degree or equivalent qualification in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • Chartered or working towards Chartered status would be advantageous.

Experience in areas such as flood alleviation, foul water design, GIS, natural flood management or river restoration would also be beneficial.
