We are currently recruiting for a Senior Yard Operative for one of our logistics clients in the Wolverhampton area. This is a hands-on and fast paced role where you will be responsible for the efficiency of the day-to-day operation of the yard and warehouse. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has experience in a logistics/transport yard, supervising others and operating machinery. This role is suited to someone who leads from the front, uses common sense, and is not afraid to get stuck in alongside the team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work hands-on across the yard and warehouse
• Load and unload vehicles using forklifts and overhead cranes
• Pick, pack, receive, and dispatch materials
• Ensure materials are handled and stored safely
• Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient working area
• Safely operate overhead cranes and heavy machinery
• Operate B1, B2, and B3 forklifts where required
• Complete daily equipment checks and report faults promptly
• Lead by example and work alongside the team
• Allocate daily tasks and manage workloads
• Keep operations running safely and efficiently
• Deal with day-to-day issues using a practical, common-sense approach
• Ensure safe working practices are followed at all times
• Act as the first point of contact for yard and warehouse matters
• Maintain high health and safety standards across the yard and warehouse
• Ensure PPE, machinery, and lifting procedures are used correctly
• Challenge and address unsafe practices immediately

Skills and Experience:

• Proven yard or warehouse experience
• Heavy machinery experience (essential)
• Overhead crane experience (essential/highly desirable)
• B1, B2, B3 forklift licences (preferred)
• Physically fit and capable of manual handling
• Reliable, hardworking, and self-motivated
• Confident leading by example and taking responsibility
