Service & Commissioning Engineer

Salary: £40,000–£55,000 + Overtime

Location: Waterbeach | UK & Overseas Travel

Hours: 40‑hour week with flexible structure

A leading designer and builder of bespoke machinery and automated equipment for high‑tech and regulated sectors is seeking a Service & Commissioning Engineer. You’ll support commissioning of special‑purpose machinery, deliver on‑site and remote customer support, and play a key role in ensuring high‑quality engineering outcomes.

The Role

• Commission new machinery on client sites in the UK and overseas
• Carry out planned maintenance and servicing
• Provide remote diagnostics and troubleshooting support
• Manage customer assistance requests through the ticketing system
• Support installation, setup and post‑delivery activities
• Work collaboratively with internal engineering teams and client stakeholders

What You’ll Need

• Strong experience working with mechanical and electrical industrial machinery
• HND/HNC/C&G in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent experience)
• Background in automation, product handling or special‑purpose machinery
• PLC fault‑finding skills (Omron/Beckhoff highly desirable)
• Ability to make minor HMI modifications (Visual Studio experience beneficial)
• Competence configuring drives and motors
• Excellent communication and customer‑facing skills
• Highly organised, proactive and able to work independently
• Full UK driving licence and eligibility for international travel
