Our client is a leading provider of specialist equipment and support services to the construction, infrastructure and industrial sectors across the UK.

Due to continued expansion, they are looking to appoint an experienced Service Controller to join their busy service team in Weston-super-Mare. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience coordinating engineers, managing maintenance schedules and handling breakdown response in a fast-paced environment.

The Role

As Service Controller, you will play a key role in ensuring equipment repairs, servicing and maintenance activities are planned and completed efficiently. Acting as the central point of contact for service operations, you will coordinate engineers, manage breakdown responses and maintain accurate service records to maximise equipment availability and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide initial telephone support to diagnose issues and resolve where possible.
  • Coordinate engineer attendance for breakdowns, prioritising first-time fixes.
  • Log and allocate repair work whilst maintaining accurate service records.
  • Schedule routine servicing, inspections and maintenance activities.
  • Liaise with customers to arrange service appointments and minimise disruption.
  • Support field engineers by ensuring they have the relevant information, parts and resources required.
  • Coordinate with internal departments regarding equipment availability and replacements.
  • Manage third-party repair providers, including raising purchase orders and approving invoices.
  • Identify chargeable repairs and process parts orders and customer invoicing.
  • Maintain accurate records of stock, repairs, service schedules and equipment downtime.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a Service Controller, Maintenance Controller, Service Coordinator or similar role.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and a confident telephone manner.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Professional, proactive and customer-focused approach.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within plant hire, construction equipment, heavy equipment, engineering or related industries.
  • Understanding of service scheduling and mobile engineer planning.
  • Experience managing maintenance and repair workflows.

  • Salary of £32,000 - £34,000 depending on experience.
