We are currently supporting the search for an experienced and compassionate Service Manager to lead a small residential care service supporting adults with disabilities.
This is an excellent opportunity for an established care manager who enjoys being hands-on, visible and closely connected to both their team and the people they support. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the service delivers high-quality, person-centred support while maintaining strong compliance and operational standards.
The Role
As Service Manager, you will provide clear leadership and direction to the team, creating a positive culture where staff feel supported and motivated to deliver the best possible care.
You will hold responsibility for the overall management and registration of the service, ensuring it operates safely, effectively and within regulatory and financial requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operation of the service
- Provide strong, visible leadership to the care team
- Promote person-centred support and positive outcomes for residents
- Maintain compliance with regulatory, statutory and health & safety requirements
- Manage recruitment, induction, training, supervision and performance
- Develop and maintain a motivated and high-performing team
- Manage budgets and ensure the service operates effectively financially
- Maintain strong safeguarding and risk management practices
- Ensure care standards and policies are consistently implemented
- Build positive relationships with residents, families, staff and external stakeholders
- Hold registration responsibility for the service
- Participate in on-call arrangements and provide support when required
- Be flexible to travel or stay away overnight occasionally where required
About You
This role would suit a confident, compassionate and energetic care leader who enjoys leading from the front.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience in a Registered Manager, Service Manager or similar care leadership position
- Experience working within adult social care
- A recognised nursing or social care qualification and registration where applicable
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements
- Experience managing and developing care teams
- Good understanding of safeguarding, health & safety and risk management
- Experience managing budgets and operational performance
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- A warm, supportive and motivating leadership style
- A proactive and flexible approach to management
