Our client, a leading UK infrastructure contractor, is currently seeking an experienced Setting Out Engineer to join their delivery team on a major highways improvement project along the A47 corridor.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a highly respected Tier 1 contractor known for delivering complex civil engineering, highways, and infrastructure projects nationwide. The successful candidate will join an experienced site team working on a significant scheme that will enhance local transport infrastructure and support long-term development across the region.

The Project

The project involves extensive highways and civil engineering works, offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced Setting Out Engineer to contribute to the successful delivery of a major infrastructure programme.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertaking accurate setting out and surveying duties across the project.
• Ensuring works are delivered in line with drawings, specifications, and programme requirements.
• Providing engineering support to site management teams and subcontractors.
• Checking drawings, levels, and dimensions prior to construction activities.
• Maintaining accurate site records and quality documentation.
• Supporting quality control and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
• Liaising with engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and the wider project team.

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Setting Out Engineer on highways, roads, or civil engineering projects.
• Strong knowledge of setting out techniques and surveying equipment.
• Competent using GPS and robotic total stations.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Good understanding of quality assurance processes and site documentation.
• CSCS card required.
• Relevant engineering qualification or demonstrable site experience.
