We are looking for an experienced Sheet Metal Worker Trainer to join a well-established aerospace manufacturing business in Hyde. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled aerospace sheet metal professional to utilise their expertise while helping develop the next generation of engineers.
The successful candidate will work within a modern manufacturing environment, producing high-quality aerospace components while mentoring and training junior or less experienced colleagues. This position has been created to strengthen the existing team and ensure valuable skills and knowledge are passed on.
This role would be ideal for a highly experienced Sheet Metal Worker approaching retirement, or someone who has recently retired and is looking for a flexible, part-time or short-term opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
- Manufacture precision aerospace sheet metal components to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Form thin sheet aluminium using traditional aerospace manufacturing techniques including rubber press forming, hand forming and wheeling.
- Produce work to close tolerances and the highest aerospace quality standards.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications.
- Train, mentor and develop junior or less experienced Sheet Metal Workers.
- Share best practice and provide technical guidance to the wider manufacturing team.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely while complying with Health & Safety procedures and 5S standards.
Key Skills:
- Extensive aerospace sheet metal experience.
- Proven experience forming thin sheet aluminium using rubber press, hand forming and wheeling techniques.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Previous experience mentoring, coaching or training colleagues.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
- Strong communication skills with a patient and supportive approach.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, quality and housekeeping.
Desirable Skills:
- Previous experience working within a high-precision aerospace manufacturing environment.
- Experience supporting apprentices or developing less experienced team members.
- A recognised engineering or sheet metal qualification.
