We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Sheet Metal Worker to join our Sheet Metal Department. The successful candidate will manufacture and assemble high-quality aluminium body panels and coach-built components using traditional sheet metal techniques. Working as part of a highly skilled team, you will play a vital role in producing handcrafted vehicles that meet the highest standards of craftsmanship, quality, and precision.
Key Responsibilities- Manufacture bespoke automotive body panels using traditional sheet metal fabrication techniques.
- Shape and form components using hammer-forming and panel beating methods.
- Perform high-quality TIG (primarily aluminium) and MIG welding while controlling distortion and maintaining structural integrity.
- Assemble, fit, and prepare body panels and Body-in-White (BIW) assemblies for the paint process.
- Carry out general sheet metal fabrication and repair work in line with production schedules.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Operate manufacturing jigs, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Ensure all work meets required quality standards and production targets.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across production departments to achieve manufacturing objectives.
- Recognised qualification in Sheet Metal, Fabrication, Welding, or Engineering (City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent).
- Proven experience in sheet metal fabrication and automotive body panel manufacture.
- Strong TIG and MIG welding skills, particularly with aluminium.
- Experience preparing Body-in-White (BIW) assemblies and panels for painting.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Previous experience within automotive manufacturing or a structured production environment is desirable.
- Familiarity with manufacturing jigs and production processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to work efficiently while maintaining quality during repetitive production tasks.
