Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Sheet Metal Worker to join our Sheet Metal Department. The successful candidate will manufacture and assemble high-quality aluminium body panels and coach-built components using traditional sheet metal techniques. Working as part of a highly skilled team, you will play a vital role in producing handcrafted vehicles that meet the highest standards of craftsmanship, quality, and precision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manufacture bespoke automotive body panels using traditional sheet metal fabrication techniques.
  • Shape and form components using hammer-forming and panel beating methods.
  • Perform high-quality TIG (primarily aluminium) and MIG welding while controlling distortion and maintaining structural integrity.
  • Assemble, fit, and prepare body panels and Body-in-White (BIW) assemblies for the paint process.
  • Carry out general sheet metal fabrication and repair work in line with production schedules.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Operate manufacturing jigs, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure all work meets required quality standards and production targets.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across production departments to achieve manufacturing objectives.
Skills and Experience
  • Recognised qualification in Sheet Metal, Fabrication, Welding, or Engineering (City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in sheet metal fabrication and automotive body panel manufacture.
  • Strong TIG and MIG welding skills, particularly with aluminium.
  • Experience preparing Body-in-White (BIW) assemblies and panels for painting.
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Previous experience within automotive manufacturing or a structured production environment is desirable.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing jigs and production processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work efficiently while maintaining quality during repetitive production tasks.
