We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing organisation operating within the waste management and recycling sector. This is an excellent opportunity to join a business committed to operational excellence, sustainability and continuous improvement.

The Opportunity

As the site's SHEQ Advisor, you'll take ownership of the Safety, Health, Environment and Quality management systems, ensuring legal compliance while driving a proactive safety culture across the operation.

Working closely with operational teams, you'll play a key role in reducing risk, improving performance and ensuring the business continues to meet the highest industry standards.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll be responsible for:

  • Driving continuous improvement in Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality performance.
  • Conducting site inspections, audits and risk assessments, ensuring corrective actions are completed.
  • Supporting operational teams with safe systems of work, method statements and COSHH assessments.
  • Leading or supporting accident and incident investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Managing environmental permits, licences and regulatory compliance.
  • Preparing for and supporting ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 audits.
  • Developing fire safety procedures and coordinating emergency evacuation exercises.
  • Liaising with regulators, suppliers and external stakeholders.
  • Promoting behavioural safety initiatives and embedding a positive safety culture across the site.

Essential Experience

Applications will only be considered from candidates with experience within the Waste & Recycling industry.

To be successful, you'll need:

  • A minimum of 5 years' SHEQ/HSEQ experience gained within waste management, recycling, resource recovery or environmental services.
  • Strong working knowledge of Environmental Law, Building Regulations and relevant UK legislation.
  • Experience managing ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Experience with RI&E and Management of Change (MOC).
  • Proven experience conducting audits, inspections and incident investigations.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills.
  • The confidence to influence operational teams and drive continuous improvement.
