SHEQ Advisor

We are seeking a proactive and experienced SHEQ Advisor to join our growing team. You will support our Process / Facilities Services Division delivering safe, compliant, and high-performing operations across a diverse range of engineering and industrial environments. Working closely with operational teams, managers, clients, contractors, and supply chain partners, you will provide practical SHEQ guidance, ensure compliance with legislative and company requirements, and help drive our commitment to continuous improvement.

As a trusted advisor, you will play a key role in promoting a positive health, safety, environmental, and quality culture throughout the business. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and approachable SHEQ professional who can influence stakeholders at all levels, build strong working relationships, and champion best practices across multiple projects and sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote a positive and proactive SHEQ culture across the business.
  • Support delivery of SHEQ strategy, objectives and improvement plans.
  • Coach managers and supervisors on their SHEQ responsibilities.
  • Lead or support Safety Committee meetings and follow up actions.
  • Monitor and report on SHEQ performance, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Support the development and maintenance of the Integrated Management System (IMS).
  • Maintain compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Conduct audits, inspections and compliance reviews across sites and offices.
  • Produce audit reports and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Support external audits, client inspections and accreditation activities.
  • Provide practical SHEQ advice aligned with legislation and industry best practice.
  • Support the development and review of risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
  • Assist with hazard identification, risk management and compliance activities, including CDM where applicable.
  • Investigate incidents, identify root causes and support effective corrective actions.
  • Monitor legislative changes and support their implementation.
  • Build strong relationships with operational teams, clients, contractors and supply chain partners.
  • Deliver SHEQ training, coaching and awareness initiatives.
  • Act as a visible SHEQ champion and support wider business objectives.

Skills, Experiences & Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, environmental and quality legislation and best practice.
  • Experience working with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections and incident investigations.
  • Strong communication, coaching and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to translate SHEQ requirements into practical operational solutions.
  • Good organisational, analytical and report-writing skills.
  • TechIOSH, CertIOSH or working towards Chartered Membership of IOSH.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent Level 3 health and safety qualification).
  • Internal Auditor qualification or equivalent auditing experience.
  • Experience in facilities management, engineering, infrastructure, process or support services environments.
  • Knowledge of environmental management, sustainability and continuous improvement principles.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
