SHEQ Manager

Astute's Nuclear Team is partnering with a UK construction and workplace solutions with a strong commitment to health & safety to recruit a SHEQ Manager for its Bristol-based operations with regular UK travel.

The strategically important SHEQ Manager role comes with a salary of £60,000 - £80,000 plus car, alongside a Monday-to-Friday working pattern.

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will:

• Develop and deliver the company's SHEQ strategy, objectives and annual improvement plan.

• Act as the senior competent adviser to the Managing Director, Board and operational leadership team on SHEQ risk, compliance and performance.

• Lead, coach and coordinate SHEQ advisers and representatives across multiple live construction projects.

• Maintain a visible presence across projects, regularly visiting sites and working closely with project and site teams.

• Ensure construction sites operate safely and comply with relevant UK legislation, including CDM 2015.

• Review RAMS, permits, critical controls and other health and safety arrangements.

• Lead or oversee investigations into incidents, near misses and high-potential events.

• Manage compliance audits, inspections, non-conformances, defects, corrective actions and continual improvement.

We are looking for someone with the following:

• Substantial SHEQ experience within the construction sector, supporting multiple live projects and significant operational risk.

• Strong knowledge of UK construction health and safety legislation and practical application of CDM duties.

• Demonstrable experience in compliance auditing, incident investigation, non-conformance management, root-cause analysis and corrective action.

• Working knowledge of integrated management systems and ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel frequently across the UK, including overnight stays.
