You will report directly to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality management. The role involves leading specialist teams, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing customer and regulatory audits, and driving improvements across operational and management systems.
Key Responsibilities:-
- Provide leadership and support across Health & Safety, Environmental, Quality Control and Quality Assurance functions.
- Maintain and improve COMAH compliance, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and associated management systems.
- Lead external audits, inspections and interactions with regulatory authorities.
- Develop, implement and monitor SHEQ policies, procedures and improvement programmes.
- Provide expert advice on safety, environmental and quality best practice.
- Manage customer audits, technical enquiries and quality-related issues.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Chair SHEQ and management review meetings.
- Identify training requirements and support the development of SHEQ competence throughout the business.
- Proven SHEQ management experience within a manufacturing environment, ideally chemical processing or other high-hazard industries.
- Strong knowledge of COMAH regulations and experience working on a regulated site.
- Experience in risk assessments, auditing, incident investigation and report writing.
- Working knowledge of current health, safety, environmental and quality legislation.
- Understanding of laboratory management systems including COSHH, SDS databases and document control.
- Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Thorough understanding of ISO management systems.
- NEBOSH Certificate essential; NEBOSH Diploma desirable.
- Chemistry or Science degree preferred, ideally with exposure to analytical techniques such as GC, GCMS and HPLC.
- Knowledge of Process Safety, Human Factors and Behavioural Safety would be advantageous.
- 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
